He's just happy to be mentioned.
I don't think anyone buys a bitaxe and hopes to make their money back. To most I'd bet it's a $150 hobby device.
Last week I released the sled database adapter for open MLS.
Iβm glad Iβm the only one using it. Bugs have been found. π They are nearly fixed.
Communities come up from being walled gardens and safe places for the participants in it. ... having been in the digital space since mainframes and gopher clients ... this fits with my understanding as well.

Correct you will never make money back
For me the difference is that itβs inter generational. Rich people have enough for themselves and their children, maybe grandchildren as well. Wealthy people have enough for descendants they will never meet.

I understand why one would do solomining with a bitaxe, If a Bitaxe costs about $150, and you can make about 2-3 cents of bitcoin per day. Than it would take about 14 years without difficulty change to make your money back (i.e. will never pay for itself). Vs.. lottery ticket + more decentralization + big pay day + fun.
Am I wrong?
This is a good summary of various clients available and how diverse they are from one another in terms of pure functionality. That said, I also see many interchangeable or too similar to categorize in the bottom two mini and micro categories. I think a lot of those apps are left to personal interpretation.
