Relays only search for exact match. So for us to find a post, general rule is would need to specify exact unicode string. But there might be exceptions - some clients would add uppercase and lowercase version of the tag you post, which distorts the picture and makes you think that things work some times but not others. It's a complex problem across apps, so for now please include exact tags.
Itโ€™s truly heartbreaking what the people there are going through.

That is a myth. Markdown was not used in plain text messages previous to its creation in 2004. There is no way anyone would write [bla](https://bla.com/) or [![alt text]()](https://link.com) in a plain text document. Also the language is completely unspecified and ultimately unparseable, such that every parser is different and adds a new thing to it, thus making everything incompatible with everything else and incentivizing everybody to support all features that any random person comes up with, which just increases the work for everybody and bloats software everywhere. To be fair, the initial Markdown version example, https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/index.text, was very readable as plain text specifically because it did NOT use the horrible link formats anywhere. If those were added later by rogue implementations that's another example of the bloat that the Markdown brand has accumulated over the years. Asciidoc is a much better language, but I also don't think we should use it for the same bloat reasons. We want clients to be simple to implement and kind:1 is already too hard to deal with without all these things. Bluesky's text formatting is actually the best way to handle this problem I've seen: https://docs.bsky.app/docs/advanced-guides/post-richtext and nostr:npub1l3cgtsurhfchg4cyhhqudm70074sr96srhje330xc5m6czej5n9s9q6vs2 has a NIP proposal that is very similar to that -- but again I don't think we should do any of that at all.

Iโ€™ve been blown away by the firsthand accounts of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and surrounding areas. There is so much footage from users on TikTok, so I started downloading clips as I came across them and put them into a single video since MSM was so slow to begin covering the disaster. It turned out to be 3.5 hours long, and this merely scratches the surface of what people are posting. As a side note, I tried to find a way to put this on Nostr directly but even after compressing the video it was like 7.5GB (3.5 hrs of video). Satellite.earth payment system is broken and it would have cost like $40 worth of sats for a 10GB nostr.build, with just this one video using most of that. Flare limits to 2GB files. So I settled on Rumble. https://rumble.com/v5h5xas-hurricane-helene-north-carolina-compilation.html

had a dream i was training to sword fight with Aragorn. it felt real. the blade was brutal and sharp. but i was getting excited at the same time for the fight that was about to come. Then he walked in to the room, and slowed down like he could sense something. i said, โ€œyou can feel it in the airโ€. He drew his sword, and stood ready. i woke up. still feels real, and like some shitโ€™s about to go down. ๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿคท

No, it's enough if you know what's running on your phone. You don't need to trust uncle Jim to protect your privacy with ecash.

on a public relay, the notes are public. since negentropy is a more efficient way to get the notes i havent seen a reason to turn it into an option. (scrapers are pulling the data already without it). i think clients may all use negentropy in the future. it is an option server side, if you feel strongly about it i can turn it off for your relay(s) and consider making it a UI option in the future. there was a bug in the rt proxy config that i did not realize was preventing negentropy, so i fixed it about a month ago..
nice view to wake up to
