Yeah, I didn't realize that it could be used for much more than chat. So many amazing possibilities. While it might be hard to imagine a chat group with thousands to hundreds-of-thousands, a private follow/subscription list could easily reach those numbers. The scaling of MLS much more relevant in that case. Really interesting. As there isn't metadata, only the group id/nonce, I imagine blind signature systems/ecash will be necessary to prevent spam on relays for these types of events. It also won't require auth that would add metadata.

A very dear friend of mine (a metal sculpture artist) made this: It's a mallet for ringing very heavy bells (he had also made a bell for it which is not in my possession). The story goes, at a showing for his artwork, he dropped the mallet while loading up his works after. I picked it up for him, but never gave it back (after contacting him he said I could keep it). The thing is, when gifted something like this, a person is faced with a choice: 1. Cherish it as an artwork 2. Use it I chose the latter.
