i made most of our gifts last Christmas. one of them was alder smoked rosemary salt. which is a fancy way of saying i took kosher flake salt, put it in a big cast iron dutch oven, put a can of alder branch pieces in the can, let them burn a bit, and closed the lid. mixed the salt, then did it again. like 5 times. then i put all the salt in a container with a bunch of fresh rosemary sprigs. not the store bought stuff, the stuff where you walk over and break it off the bush, and the smell stays on your hands for a day or two. then let it sit for a week or two, shaking the whole thing every day for good measure. then seal it up in small canning jars. when you open the jars, the smell of alder smoke and rosemary fills the room. apparently, the salt made the rounds and now people are hitting me up to buy it. so it looks like im in the part time salt business now. 🤷🧂

I really don’t look forward to the day my kids use phones :( There’s so much to teach them but you know they won’t listen. Even now the YouTube stuff is terrible. My kid was watching some transformers animation channel - I think from Korea and at one point one of the characters just says “you like that, bitch?” I was like WTF 😳 this is a kids show? YouTube is disturbing in so many ways. Currently I have no way of uninstalling it. Very much look forward to my next dumb display without YouTube
