Read about the Wendat peoples who were first encountered by the Jesuits in the 16th century. Or the Zana-Malata people, who were the descendants of pirates. Conquest by other, more structured, and hierarchical societies doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t work…..

Thought experiment: In 2140, mining will solely rely on transaction fees due to zero block subsidy. This new competition dynamic may result in miners prioritizing valuable blocks over others. For instance, if whales broadcast high-value (and high-fee) transactions at the same time, other miners might attempt to claim those rewards instead of building upon the existing block. Why would they compete for 100m sats when they can get 300m sats? The difficulty would be the same for both. Consequently, this could lead to an increase in short-term chain splits and potential rollbacks for mining the same lucrative transactions. If short-term chain splits become common and depending on fee volatility, rollbacks might extend beyond one block. In such a scenario, would the traditional "six confirmations" rule still provide a perfect guarantee of transaction finality? After writing this, I realized there is a paper on the topic: mining_CCS.pdf #asknostr #bitcoin #mining
I think the only way it works is when there is a collective understanding that one’s survival depends on cooperation with other people. The problem is that now individuals can be psychopathic, selfish, underhanded, and manipulative and still survive. Our communities are not tight knit enough, or transparent enough, to understand how much we need each other and whether other individuals are contributing or detracting from the success of the group.

We need to challenge our own opinions and beliefs or succumb to confirmation bias and planted ideas that have no anchors in reality.
If this was not true we’d have clear examples of it working. The fact that we don’t says the world over time optimized for organized societies with leaders and governing bodies. Notice im not saying anything about the size of that government.

I don’t think humans are capable of governing themselves on a voluntary individual basis. Someone always wants an upper hand, to tilt things in their favor, which ultimately leads to conflict and violence until a more organized society steps in and takes over.

No, 58k
I am leaning towards that as well, I just wanted to try a new approach at feeds that's a little more algorithm-y
People like to advocate for small government (whatever this means - how small?), but there’s no historical precedent that I could find where it actually works. You have to have absolute rulers for it to work for some time , but ultimately that power corrupts them.
Guy was cracking me up.
Name one time in history where small government outside of monarchy has worked. The examples I’ve looked at all resulted in feud, corruption and eventual conquest by foreign powers.
Depends how I feel about it at the end, along with some alpha readers’ feedback.

Imagine a small town overlooking the Pacific surrounded by thousands of acres of forest, where you know your neighbors, leave your house unlocked day and night, where you find local farmers who’ll sell you fresh food and where #bitcoin is the local currency. I’d move there in a heartbeat.
Yeah it’s a cool spot!

I haven’t once mentioned what the government should be doing or the size of the govt in that situation , so I’m not sure how one can take issue with that which they weren’t told about.
