Personally I think nostr.com should be exactly like mastodon website - a sort of main client you can visit and get a sense of the activity here - maybe see a trending feed. But it’s been hijacked for personal gain. But there are other activities we can do something as simple as participating in discussions on hacker news and anywhere else bluesky gets mentioned.

One of the reasons I will never be a #bitcoin maximalist I've never been a moral puritan and I'll never be a financial puritan either. There's no example I've ever seen where there was only one solution to a problem. That's almost my golden rule and as much as I value #btc I value choice more.

If someone were to sell bitcoin that is in cold storage for ~£100k after some more pumps to buy something, like home improvements: extension, loft extension, landscaping a garden etc... What way would you recommend doing it? - Taking a collateral loan is both difficult in the UK and way too risky. - p2p exchanges: not sure what issues you could face and whether to be concerned about bank account terminations if they suspect something or ask what the money is from and you say bitcoin (also you'd be doxxing the buyer as a bitcoin owner). Also how many trades would you need to make and is there a size of trade that is just too dangerous? - Exchanges: will the bank block large transfers FROM an exchange? I hope they'd be more lenient towards deposits compared to withdrawals from your bank account. Also is £100k too much? - OTC: what is it, can any pleb use this or is it a gentlemens club? - Other options?

When I talk about marketing and nostr I’m not referring to traditional marketing, which most people imagine as PR or some meat space activity. Marketing entails entire product vision communicated in the most effective way. This could mean approaching online communities, having a single place to send people, building integrations, tapping into referrals etc… Mastodon and Bluesky both have a place to send people. You can type either into google and see a feed almost right away. Nostr makes you read a bunch of crap and then asks you to make a choice of “client” - not even an app. Small example, but you get the idea.

Meh, every protocol starts with one client. That doesn’t mean progress hasn’t been made (most of the backend stack can be self-hosted with all the same data as the “official” backend, except one part AFAIU, which required a lot of work), nor that more progress won’t be made. Yea, Bluesky has moderation, but that doesn’t mean it’s some centralized censored crap - especially if they manage to decentralize further and lean into the decentralized opt-in moderation design they have!

Next release has some improvements. Currently it biases towards relays that already have an active connection, but that just results in getting stuck with all the wrong relays.
