the 9, 9.rc, u, and u.rc shell scripts in the plan9port are kinda brilliant. they allow you to specify whether you are using the plan9 base utils, or unix base utils for commands, and whether the script should run the command in the system's default shell, or the plan9 rc shell, all in the same #!/bin/sh script.
