I've read the full Mars trilogy and it's full of very interesting political and societal questions around how a new form community, government, economy, etc. would form given a blank slate. My issue with it is that it sort of skates past many of the harder questions and doesn't really consider them deeply (but then again, it's a novel, not a book dedicated to exclusively exploring those ideas). In any case, highly recommend the series. It's really enjoyable.
