My father used to tell me a story that planted the seed in my mind that ultimately led me to #bitcoin. My father grew up in South Africa and when he was at university his father would pick him up every Friday to bring him home for the weekend. But before going home, they would stop at a nearby pub and have a few beers. One day, they stopped at the pub and his old man ordered them beers like usual. But when the bill came he looked at my dad in disbelief and said, "Can you believe this, the price has gone up. A beer is now 23 cents! Sooner or later a beer is going to cost a whole rand!" For context, 23c is about $0.012 and 1 rand is about $0.052. As a kid, this story got me thinking about WHY prices keep going up.
