As people who are repelled by such things leave, the dynamic is reinforced by the self-selected people who remain and the bots that game them.\n\nOther social media communities exist that, while differing in details, lack this influence and this outcome.\n\nPersonally I've found the Fediverse (usually called Mastodon for its most popular client), and of course Nostr, immensely satisfying for this reason.
