I’d like to join this conversation, as I’m both concerned and curious about the ongoing discussions in various posts regarding the transition that Skype is undergoing. However, many of these comments seem to overlook some of the most relevant features that have defined Skype since its inception, such as the ability to make calls to any existing number. This includes relatively affordable international "purchase" numbers as well as anonymous calls from our user profile, provided we have sufficient credit. Personally, it has been a challenge to find a platform that offers a similar service, as user-friendly and easy to use as Skype once was. For years, I’ve been paying approximately $50 per year to maintain an additional contracted number, which I used for international calls. With occasional top-ups of $5 or $10 in prepaid mode, I was able to accumulate enough minutes to last for months, and sometimes even over a year. For instance, today I made a 30-minute intercontinental call for just $0.30. Skype used to work perfectly without needing to register my local number on my profile. Although the platform repeatedly encouraged me to do so so that recipients could see it, I never complied, and this did not affect my call traffic at all—except that recipients saw my calls as "anonymous." Interestingly, I could also receive text messages (SMS) on the contracted number, provided the sender had that number. Accessing Teams and other MS-products is not an option for me, in fact, I joined Skype from its inception, knowing that it was a Swedish company, , which made me feel confident. So, which company currently offers a similar service? #SkypeAlternatives #GlobalCommunication #Skype #PrepaidSolutions
